Driver who moved dying pal guilty of drunk driving causing death-AUGUST 01, 2017
BARRIE – A mother and daughter wept and hugged in court Tuesday after a jury found Andrew Fallows guilty of drunk driving causing the death of 18-year-old Shania Slater.
“I’m so happy with the jury’s verdict … but I won’t forget what he did to my daughter,” said a tearful mother, Rose Looyengh, of Orillia, outside of court.

A report of a possible impaired driver in Milton led to the arrest of a man in connection with an Oakville attempted carjacking and a Brampton car theft.
On Aug. 3, just before midnight, Halton police responded to a call for a possible impaired driver on Campbellville Road in Milton. Police located a 2017 Lincoln MKC and launched an impaired driving investigation.

Three Kingston women were injured in a serious crash early Sunday morning caused by what the Ontario Provincial Police said was impaired driving.
Emergency services were called to the Loyalist Parkway just north of Rosehall for a single-vehicle rollover collision just after 2 a.m. The OPP said the vehicle left the road and rolled onto the front lawn of a nearby residence. One of the passengers was ejected and seriously injured. The two other occupants remained within the vehicle and received minor injuries.

Man jailed seven years for impaired fatal crash -March 23 2012
TORONTO – A 23-year-old man was sentenced to seven years behind bars for a drunk driving crash that claimed the life of one of his passengers and left four others badly hurt two years ago in Acton.
Todd McGowan was convicted in December of one count each of impaired operation causing death and dangerous driving causing death, as well as four counts each of impaired operation causing bodily harm and careless driving causing bodily harm, after a three week jury trial in Milton.
Accused in fatal car crash granted bail-April 5 2012
A 19-year-old charged in connection with a horrific crash that killed his friend on Tuesday has been granted bail.
Oliver Karafa appeared in court Wednesday requesting bail, but the matter was adjourned until Thursday.
Bail was set at $20,000 and it was granted by Thursday afternoon.

Toronto police have charged a woman with impaired driving after her car crashed early Sunday morning on the Gardiner Expressway.
The car was heading east on the Gardiner, near the ramp leading to the Don Valley Parkway, when it hit a guardrail.
The car burst into flames, but the woman was able to get out without suffering any serious injuries.

Instead, the suspended army reservist convicted of killing two fathers while driving the wrong way on Hwy. 403 has been sent off to serve a four year sentence in federal prison.
On his release, Bakai will also be prohibited from driving for another nine years.

A Wyoming man who drunkenly drove over a lawn has been sentenced to 90 days in jail.
Dale Vandenberghe, 48, was convicted in Sarnia court of impaired driving following a trial that ended July 13. He was sentenced last week.

I mpaired driving has been a scourge on Canadian roads for decades. While campaigns have been waged, warnings issued and laws tightened, drinking and driving is not going away.
In 2002, the Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators introduced the Road Safety Vision 2010 project. In it, the Council called for a 40% reduction by 2010 in the 2001 percentage of alcohol-related traffic fatalities and serious injuries.
